Romans 10
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! (KJV)
Instituto Biblico Baja and NLM have been called of God to SEND indigenous families as missionaries back to their villages in Oaxaca to be the first light in the darkness.
November 2008 - Pastor Abdon Senen Ruiz Mendoza (one of IBB's first graduates) and his wife Bernardita and children Manuel, Sara, and Salmai
left their home and comforts of Baja California to return to the "pioneer" subsistence living of Chalcatongo, Oaxaca, in order to bring the gospel of salvation through actions of love to the rancho of Chapultepec, Senen's home "rancho".
Their niece Marisol Ruiz, also decided to return to her home town after graduating from IBB. Marisol is the only light in Plan de Ayala. She joins Senen and Bernardita in ministry in Chapultepec several times a week as well as ministering in her own village.
We as a sending team have systems of support in place:
In July 2010 we anticipate the preparation of Beni and Nati Ruiz will be complete and they will join Senen and Nati in Chalcatongo. Beni recently said "I have a great desire to also go to other villages and share the gospel."
Recently a door has opened to them to go to a village called San Pedro Molinos, some two-three hours distance from Chalcatongo. They have received an invitation to come. San Pedro Molinos is a completely unreached village of oral tradition. God has been preparing their way. Please pray for Beni and Nati as they prepare to go:
PREPARING THE WAY TO BE SENT...
Senen and Berndita were born in indigenous villages in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. In September 2007, a first missionary journey was taken to Oaxaca by Ramon, Don and Ilene, Senen and daughter Luz Elena and Beni, a cousin to Senen. Our goal was to 1) identify obstacles that returning believers would face, 2) network with other missionaries in Oaxaca (especially ones who could minister to our returning missionaries).
Don used the research to write his doctoral dissertation (which can be found under "Our Story" on this website.
We are also using the research to prepare our missionaries who will be returning this year, 2008. This is a historical time for the Free Methodist Conference of Baja California. Senen and Bernadita Ruiz will be their first missionaries.
Below you can go with us to see Oaxaca and the mission field of the Mixteco peoples of Chalcatongo.
